 History of Triple-A Baseball Markets
With a history of over 130 years, Triple-A Baseball has been played in over 100 cities across North America. Triple-A Baseball was forced out of several markets with the emergence of Major League Baseball, while other times, the movement was proactive as a team left one city for another growing market.
  • 18 current Major League Baseball markets previously hosted Triple-A clubs (Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Oakland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle & Toronto).
  • Triple-A Baseball has been played in 40 states (AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV) as well as Canada, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.
